2026 Steelhead Season
2026 Steelhead Season
Steelhead season has had a promising start on the Russian River.
Flows have dropped under 800 cfs at Hacienda, the water has cleaned up to a nice green... translating into some very good fishing. Boats drifting out of Healdsburg are averaging one to two fish per trip. There's also been solid shore action from Steelhead Beach down through Monte Rio. Plenty of fish are coming in the 6–8 pound range, with a few reported in the teens. With no meaningful rain on deck, expect conditions to keep improving and flows continue to settle.

FISHING THE RUSSIAN RIVER
Fishing has been a time-honored tradition on the Russian River since the settlement of the Russian explorers in the early 1800s. The crew at King’s Sport & Tackle are dedicated to continuing these traditions in a manner that is fun for the fisher while being ecologically sound to the environment. This river is full of wildlife, and many fish species call this river "home".
ROD RENTAL: $15 per day. You can rent a basic rod and reel to target bass, shad, or steelhead. No tackle included.
Note that the Russian River is subject to LOW FLOW REGULATIONS. It is the angler's responsibility to determine if the river is open to fishing or not. Only barbless hooks are allowed on the Russian River. There are bait restrictions as well. Refer to the regulations to determine what is allowed.
